Central Lombok & Praya

Central Lombok Regency is a second-level region in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, with its capital in Praya. It covers an area of approximately 1,095.03 km². This region is renowned as a tourism hub, home to Lombok International Airport, the Kuta tourist area, and traditional Sasak villages such as Sade Village. Praya is the capital of Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, and serves as the center of government, commerce, and culture. Strategically located in the center of Lombok Island, it serves as the main gateway to southern destinations like Kuta and Mandalika, and is close to the international airport.

The best-known place on the south coast is Lombok's Kuta Beach (Sometime spelt Kute Beach) a magnificent stretch of white sand and blue sea with rugged hills rising around it, famous for its surfing spots. 

Before Kuta Beach Lombok was designated a major tourist destination in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK), it attracted visitors for its beautiful, pristine beaches and surfing spots. Surfers from around the world considered Kuta Lombok a surfer's paradise. Lombok's southern coast is renowned for its high waves, and Kuta Lombok serves as a great base for surfers.

Many visitors return each year to surf Kuta's famous waves. Whether you're an experienced surfer or a beginner, you'll find a surf spot that suits you. Surfboards and boogie boards are available for rent, or you can bring your own. You'll need transportation to the surf spots from Kuta; most guests choose to rent a motorbike equipped with a dedicated surf rack. Known for its pepper-white sand, clear blue waters, and green hills, Kuta Lombok is located approximately 27 minutes from Lombok International Airport. Kuta Lombok offers a relaxed atmosphere, great surfing, and is close to the Mandalika Circuit.

Public transportation is now rare in almost all areas of Lombok and its surroundings. With increasing per capita income, or perhaps even due to technological advances and the convenience of banking and financing institutions, many people have the ability to own at least one motorcycle as their daily means of transportation.

Metered taxis, once seen on many street corners, are now somewhat rare. They have lost out to the growing competition from Grab and similar services. If in the past you could order via a hotline number or simply stand on the side of the road and wave your hand and tell them where to go, now it is rarely seen.
