Senggigi has experienced a lot of development in the last few years and much of it is still pretty raw, not yet softened by landscaping. 

 

There are on-going luxury developments further north next to Pacific Beach Hotel and between Purimas Hotel and Holiday Resort Lombok.

 

The road from Mataram to Senggigi (Ampenan, Montong, Batu Layar, Duduk, Batu Bolong, Senggigi) contains many art and handicrafts shops, boating, freight forwarding company, etc. If you turn at Montong towards Gunung sari, you can also find some fine timber merchants, paintings, and shops selling bamboo product.
